The Secret Plan

In Early April 2001 - Aaron took Kaela on a surprise trip to Orlando Florida. The plan was to stay at the newly opened Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures, check out the theme parks and then go to Epcot for a day somewhere in that time (there were other secret plans unbeknownst to Kaela as well). We arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel on a Thursday night, checked into our rooms and then spent the last few hours roaming around Universal studios (5 minute walk from the Hotel) for the last few hours they were open for that night.

Then the next day, Friday, we planed to go to Epcot center for the day. We got to Epcot and the first thing we did was sign up for the Millennium Memory wall. It's a giant wall that has laser etched photos of people with their names and the date that they visited. It's located under the giant sphere at Epcot, look it up the next time you go, we'll be there! We spent a magical day at Epcot center, riding all the rides and taking in the cultural shows that they have there. There were giant parades and all sorts of festivities because of the new millennium. Kaela had never eaten at the underwater restaurant at Epcot so I made secret reservations to eat there for dinner. It's a great 5 star restaurant that is surrounded by a giant aquarium with sharks and large ocean fish swimming around while you dine on their cousins.

After dinner we went to find our front row spot for the music, water, fireworks and laser light extravaganza they do every night at closing time. It's truly a sight to behold, fireworks filling the sky every where you can look while water and lasers dance to music in the giant pond in the middle of Epcot. During the show I looked at Kaela and told her how happy I was to be there with her and how glad I was that we did the memory wall so that some day in the future our kids can come and see a picture of their mom and dad the day their father proposed to her. Kaela shot me a look of complete surprise as I dropped to one knee, produced the engagement ring from my pocket and asked her to be my wife. As she said yes with tears in her eyes, I couldn't have timed it more perfect if I had planed, a huge explosion of fireworks went off in the sky for the final display and as we kissed hundreds of people around us applauded and congratulated us. We spent the next three days in Florida at Universal and Islands of Adventure the newly engaged couple. We were as happy as two people could be on a vacation. It's a trip we'll both remember forever.
